Head Coach, Girls 15-Bert
Bela Trubint came to San Diego in 2001 from Serbia, country that is constantly in the top five Volleyball nations in the World. He played professionally in Europe for more than 10 years. His teams took part in European Champions League and were National Cup winners three different years. Bela was also a member of the Serbian (Yugoslavian) National Team and played in over 30 international matches as an outside hitter.
A back injury ended his playing career and he moved on to coaching. He was an assistant coach with his former professional club for a year in Belgrade. Upon his arrival in San Diego, Bela served for two years as head coach for the Point Loma High School Girls Varsity team.
He coached for two years at Sunwest Volleyball Club in the Girls 16s and 17s age category. Bela has been coaching with Epic volleyball club since it was founded in 2003. He has worked with teams in all the age groups of our boys program. In 2006, Bela coached Epic's Boys 16-1 team, which finished 5th at the South California Volleyball Region.(SCVA). The last three years Bela has coached 18s ,17s and 16s age category. Last season Bela coached our 17-Bela girls team. Bela is now looking forward to starting his 13th season with Epic, and will coach girls in 16s age category!
Bela says, "I really enjoy coaching the younger generation of volleyball players because I feel that I can teach them all the different volleyball skills and tactics that I learned through my pro career".
Bela graduated from a specialized high school for mathematics and computer programming, and graduated at the College of Economics at the University of Belgrade (Serbia). He is married to Danijela, who is also from Serbia, they have two daughters together. His daughters Mila and Gala also play volleyball at Epic VBC, and were members of 16-1 and 13-1 teams last season. You can't miss Bela in the gym, he is the one who is six to eight inches taller than everyone else.
